President Neil Farquhar delivered a passionate Immortal Memory to Robert Burns this year explaining how Burns had helped and inspired his first meeting with his wife, Veronica.   Our Secretary Graham then welcomed our guests with special mention to those from Pfizers who had come in numbers and of course the Right Worshipfull Mayor and Mayoress of Hythe, Alan and Rosemary Ewart-James. Graham also mentioned his contact with societies all over the
world, including Tokyo, Dubai, Missouri, Montreal, Toronto and Rio de Janeiro.  Alan Ewart-James replied mentioning his association with Neil Farquhar spanning some 30 to 40 years.   Harry Hutchison gave an inimitable Toast to the Lassies, often verging on irreverence but always coming back to the special place the lassis have in our homes and hearts.
Irene Mantle delivered an apt retort with a special poem to Harry and then to all the Laddies.

Norma Nunn sung "Comin' thru' the rye" beautifully  before everyone drifted into the main hall where three Past Presidents Messrs Hutchison, Darrant and Fairweather orchestrated The Grand March, which followed into the Gay Gordons.  Nearly everyone took part in this great introduction to the music and dancing part of the event.

Although, I had to leave virtually as soon as the Gordons' finished, I have heard that everyone enjoyed themselves and that it was a great night and fitting tribute to Scotlands's National Bard. We have received many letters and cards of thanks.

REMEMBER TO SEND ME ANY PICTURES YOU HAVE OF THE NIGHT SO THAT I CAN INCLUDE THEM ON THIS WEBSITE AND PERHAPS THE WEEBLETHERER !
